Donald Trump's biggest supporter makes bold claim about President's NFL Draft potential

Trump didn't exactly have an accomplished athletic career, but the 2026 NFL Draft has brought forth a bold take.

Fans would ideally prefer to not mix politics with sports, but that's never fully the case. With the 2026 NFL Draft taking place this weekend, the two have intertwined once again, but for an odd reason.

The first round was completed on Thursday night, as Fernando Mendoza and 31 other players lived out their dream of hearing their names called by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Did President Donald Trump have the potential to once be part of that tradition?

Nick Adams says President Donald Trump would have been drafted by the NFL if he stuck with football

Nick Adams, a conservative political commentator and author who now holds a position in Trump's administration, made a bold take about the President's football potential: He believes Trump would have been drafted into the league if he stuck with football.

Trump only played football for one season at the high school level, in 1962 while at the New York Military Academy. It's a massive stretch to make the assumption that Trump would have somehow been good enough to reach the NFL.

Regardless, Trump was considered "a great athlete" during that time, at least according to former classmate Ted Levine. In fact, he played baseball for three seasons and soccer for one season in addition to his short football spell. Levine also said that Trump was "physically and mentally gifted".

That may have been true, but the NFL is a whole other level, even if it has changed dramatically since then. Trump played tight end during his one season, and he admitted he never scored a touchdown.
