Earlier this week, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders proclaimed that his preferred destination for his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, would be the New York Giants -- the owners of the #3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But the Giants, absent a franchise quarterback since the days of Eli Manning, didn't want to wait until April 24 to make their move behind center -- on Tuesday, New York went out and signed veteran free agent Russell Wilson to a one-year, incentive-laden deal to be its starter for 2025.

The signing of the 10-time Pro Bowl selection Wilson completes the Giants' QB room makeover, with former #1 pick Jameis Winston agreeing to a two-year contract with New York last week. Shedeur and Deion are unlikely now to get what they want...but for Travis Hunter, the fun may just be getting started.

Giants enamored with Hunter at #3 overall

The Giants' moves to shore up their quarterback options with two veteran signal-callers has led to Steve Palazzolo of The 33rd Team speculating that New York has decided to go all-in on Hunter with the third pick in the draft. Longtime Giants owner John Mara has final say, and it seems his choice is Hunter -- the Heisman Trophy winner who excelled as a cornerback and as a wide receiver at Colorado.

Adding Hunter to a wide receiver room that includes Malik Nabers, the sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft, would give the Giants a young duo that could soon be the envy of the NFL, let alone the NFC East division. In his rookie season, Nabers was selected to the Pro Bowl after he hauled in 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns -- all without Wilson or Winston at quarterback.
