Pat McAfee was left astounded, along with the rest of the WWE Universe, on Saturday evening as John Cena finally turned his back on the fans after two decades of 'hustle, loyalty and respect'.
In his duties as a commentator, McAfee has often been unable to control his emotions at ringside, yet Saturday evening's shock took the former NFL star to another level.
After winning the men's Elimination Chamber match, securing his place in the WrestleMania main event against fan-favorite, Cody Rhodes, Cena looked as if he was going to honorably congratulate Rhodes for turning his back on the advances of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
Johnson had been looking for someone to be his very own 'champion' as he can't regularly fit in-ring work into his schedule.
Alas, upon turning The Rock down, Rhodes was in for a nasty surprise as Cena blindsided him and emerged as The Rock's choice of champion.
"THE FINAL BOSS ALWAYS HAS A PLAN," McAfee screamed into the microphone.
"It's a Rolex Cole, and Cody could have had every Rolex he'd ever dreamed of, but instead he's getting his a** beat by John Cena, because the Final Boss said so."
Cena looking to earn record-breaking title run
Whilst fans have long anticipated a John Cena heel turn, few could have envisaged it ever happening at this late stage of his career.
However, with his retirement already announced it appears as though Cena has had enough of waiting in line, and is looking to secure a record-breaking 17th world title the easy way, with a little help from the Final Boss.
McAfee will be on-hand to follow the drama all the way to WrestleMania, where Cena will have the chance to take the championship from Rhodes, although it remains unclear just how The Rock will feature in this endeavor.
