- BJ Penn speaks out about mental health troubles as UFC star faces assault, abuse charges
- Ilia Topuria shifts stance on Cristiano Ronaldo following new business partnership
March kicks off in 'UFC style' with UFC 326 and the BMF title on the line. It's time for one of the most anticipated rematches between two legends: Max Holloway (the current champion of that crown) and Charles Oliveira. Both fighters, who at the time fell to the power of Ilia Topuria, are looking to redeem themselves and prove who is the "toughest guy" in the company. Their only previous meeting was in 2015, when Holloway took the victory after an unfortunate injury to Oliveira.
The Hawaiian will defend his BMF belt for the second time after his epic victory over Dustin Poirier last summer. Both see this fight as a golden opportunity to jump back into the lightweight title conversation, although names such as Justin Gaethje (interim champion) and Arman Tsarukyan remain in the queue.
Records and form: Holloway vs. Oliveira
Max "Blessed" Holloway (27-8) arrives in enviable physical condition. After his stint at 145 pounds, he has shown that his chin and punching volume translate perfectly to lightweight. His KO victory over Justin Gaethje in 2024 and his recent defense against Poirier make him one of the most dangerous and difficult fighters to finish in the company's history.
Charles "Do Bronx" Oliveira (34-10, 1 NC) remains the king of finishes in the UFC. Although his official record shows some recent losses to the elite (Makhachev and Topuria), the Brazilian has shown that he can submit anyone in the blink of an eye. Oliveira is looking to prove that his 2015 loss to Holloway was a fluke and that his ground game is the perfect antidote to the Hawaiian's boxing.
Predictions: Who will win the BMF title?
Las Vegas bookmakers have Max Holloway as a slight favorite (-150). The general prediction is that Holloway will try to keep the fight standing, using his reach advantage and cardio to wear Oliveira down in the championship rounds (4 and 5).
However, the forecast for Oliveira (+130) lies in his ability to take the fight to the ground. If "Do Bronx" can close the distance and punish Max's body, he could find an opening for his lethal rear-naked choke. Final prediction: Holloway by unanimous decision after a five-round war that will live up to the BMF moniker.
