Leaving aside the gold medal conquered on the 2026 Milan-Cortine Winter Olympic Games this past month, ice-hockey player Jack Hughes keeps collecting good news outside of sports. For months, fans have been speculating about a blossoming romance between him and famous Canadian singer Tate McRae. Now, these rumors have finally been replaced by a strong confirmation, that both are exclusively dating.

According to reports from emdia outlets US Weekly and Entertainment Tonight, they have transitioned from casual dating to a committed relationship.

What the Olympics put together

After starting with casual messages and sporadic public appearances, the couple has been relevant and subject of conversation since last year. Seen together on a cozy dinner date in November and walking the streets of New York City in December, it seemed that the confirmation of a romance was about to happen.

So, as the Winter Games approached, their connection grew stronger. Tate was present at the event on behalf of the NBC while Hughes was representing America on the ice hockey surface, but that did not stop both of them from seeing each other. Now, weeks after the games finished, the announcement of their relationship is no surprise to anyone.

According to an insider who spoke to US Weekly, "Tate McRae has been so supportive of his career and has been loving going to the games and cheering him on."

As the 2026 season moves into its final months, the couple is reportedly planning and desiring to spend more time together once the NHL schedule allows. However, for now, they remain the ultimate power couple of 2026, or better said, they will be until Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get married in June. After that date, unfortunately for Hughes and McRae, they will slide to a secondary position.

A broken tooth for his country

Jack Hughes' chipped grin became one of the unofficial symbols of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Broken during the third period of the Olympic Gold Medal game against Canada, he also suffered several chips on his bottom teeth, with one of his front incisors almost smashed out entirely.

Talking in 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', he said this abouthis teeth:

"Honestly, it is funny, because since we've been back in the U.S. we feel the love like crazy and so much support, but when people are coming up for a picture, they'll be like, 'smile.'... It's funny, yeah."

This example of sacrifice has not gone unnoticed, and who knows, it may have been one of the reasons why McRae has fallen in love with him. His last name is 'Hughes', but it can also be 'Loyalty'.
