If you thought the NFL was some sort of thrift shop, there is news coming from Florida which suggests otherwise. The Miami Dolphins have finally drawn a line in the sand of this signing window that is moving as crazy as a headless chicken.

While the franchise has spent the last few weeks dismantling its veteran core, one name stands out for being untouchable: De'Von Achane.

Despite the assumption that no one in South Florida was safe, sources told ESPN'sAdam Schefter that teams inquiring about a trade for the star running back have been met with a firm "no."

The untouchable in a sea of changes

The Dolphins' front office, now led by general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, has not been shy at all when it comes to cutting trees. The roster regroup has been swift and, for many fans, heartbreaking. In just a matter of weeks, the Dolphins have done a fair amount of cleaning that has left Miami grappling with an unprecedented $175 million in dead money against the 2026 salary cap.

Yet, amid this financial and cultural reset, Achane stands alone as the only one the new leadership refuses to part ways with. He is in the final season of his four-year rookie deal.

"We want him to be part of this thing moving forward"

While the immediate news is that the trade door is closed, the long-term question involves a contract extension. During the NFL Scouting Combine, GM Jon-Eric Sullivan gave his point of view when discussing the running back's future:

"He's a marvelous player. We want him to be part of this thing moving forward

While those extension conversations are slated for later in the summer, the Cowboys are not starting from zero and they want him to keep being part of the squad.
