The Las Vegas Raiders are facing a critical juncture in their roster construction as they prepare for the offseason. One glaring gap has been the absence of a true No. 1 wide receiver, a position that has limited the team's offensive ceiling despite having promising young talent.

At the same time, defensive star Maxx Crosby has become the subject of increasing trade speculation, creating the potential for a blockbuster deal that could reshape the Raiders' offense and the Dallas Cowboys' roster simultaneously.

Crosby, one of the league's premier edge rushers, remains a cornerstone of Las Vegas' defense, but questions about his long-term future and the team's rebuilding timeline have fueled rumors that he could be leveraged in a high-profile trade.

Rather than simply stockpiling draft picks, the Raiders might aim to use Crosby as a vehicle to acquire an established pass-catcher capable of immediately filling their long-standing wide receiver void.

Raiders eye George Pickens in bold trade scenario

ESPN insider Dan Graziano recently outlined a compelling hypothetical trade that would send Crosby to the Cowboys in exchange for wide receiver George Pickens and a 2026 first-round pick (No. 20 overall). Under this scenario, Dallas would acquire Crosby along with the Raiders' 2026 second-round pick (No. 36 overall).

Graziano notes that the Cowboys may be hesitant to commit to a long-term, top-market contract for Pickens, who could otherwise become a cap burden. Using the franchise tag, as the Cowboys did with Micah Parsons, might create additional complications, making a trade for Crosby a mutually appealing alternative.

From the Raiders' perspective, acquiring Pickens fits both immediate and long-term goals. At 25 years old, Pickens is entering the prime of his career and possesses the explosiveness to transform a passing attack that has struggled to find a true playmaker.

Pairing him with promising youngsters such as Ashton Jeanty, Brock Bowers, and potential draft pick Fernando Mendoza would give Las Vegas a more balanced and dynamic offensive arsenal. Additionally, Pickens' contract demands align better with the Raiders' salary structure, offering a more feasible long-term investment than he would be for the Cowboys, who already pay CeeDee Lamb top-tier wide receiver money.

Crosby, meanwhile, would bring immediate impact to Dallas' pass rush while providing flexibility to address other roster needs, including finding a reliable No. 2 receiver. With Crosby projected to earn around $30 million annually for the next two seasons, the Cowboys would gain a proven defensive cornerstone without disrupting their salary cap strategy.

While no official discussions have been confirmed, this trade proposal highlights the strategic maneuvering shaping the NFL offseason.

The potential swap of Crosby for Pickens could offer both franchises an opportunity to fit talent with long-term objectives. For the Raiders especially, the addition of Pickens could finally provide the offensive weapon they've long sought.
