C.J. Stroud's postseason ended in damaging fashion on Sunday, as the Houston Texans quarterback threw four interceptions in the first half of a divisional round loss to the New England Patriots.

The game slipped away quickly. Playing on the road against the New England Patriots, Stroud struggled with accuracy and decision-making, repeatedly giving the defence opportunities.

He finished the opening half with four interceptions, managing just one touchdown pass-a score to Christian Kirk-as Houston fell behind early and never recovered.

Two of Stroud's passes were intercepted by Carlton Davis, while another proved especially costly when Marcus Jones returned it for a touchdown. The sequence turned a competitive matchup into a steep uphill battle and placed Stroud firmly in the spotlight.

As the final minute ticked away, Troy Aikman delivered a pointed critique on the broadcast, framing the performance as part of a broader concern rather than an isolated collapse.

"C.J. Stroud has been chasing his rookie success for the last two years. He's not been the same player. We've not seen the development from him. There's a reason for that, and it has to be addressed," Aikman said.

"If his hands hurt, that's one thing. But he missed some open throws tonight, turned the ball over a lot again, which is what he did in Pittsburgh. This was not a good performance."

Accountability from Stroud

Stroud did not shy away from responsibility when he faced reporters after the game. His postgame comments were blunt and personal, reflecting both frustration and self-awareness.

"When I look back on it, I feel like I let people down, and I'm not happy with that. It hurts. I'm not used to it. I didn't play my best this year, but I'm going to respond, I'm going to keep my chest out and my chin up high," Stroud said.

The remarks captured the tension surrounding Stroud's season. After a rookie year that raised expectations and positioned him as a long-term answer at quarterback, his follow-up campaign has been uneven.

Turnovers, missed opportunities, and stretches of inconsistency have crept into his game, and Sunday's performance brought those issues into sharp focus on a playoff stage.
