Skip Bayless has never been one to shy away from criticizing the Dallas Cowboys, but the analyst has reached a new level of frustration with the franchise's leadership.

Bayless, who has supported the team since its expansion era in the 1960s, delivered a scathing review of Jerry Jones' tenure as both owner and general manager.

Despite the Cowboys' status as the most valuable sports franchise in the world, Bayless argued that the product on the field has been an objective failure for three decades, leading him to issue a "flat-out F" grade to Jones for his recent body of work.

The core of Bayless' argument centers on a lack of accountability that he believes would not exist in any other NFL front office.

"If Jerry had just been somebody other owner's general manager, he would have been fired 20 years ago," Bayless said on his latest appearance on "The Arena: Gridiron".

He highlighted the fact that while Jones often reminisces about the Super Bowl titles of the 1990s, the franchise has not reached an NFC Championship game since 1995.

For a "die-hard" fan who views the team as his "heart and soul," Bayless described the last 30 years as a period of constant heartbreak and unmet expectations.

A modern era defined by playoff absence

The statistics back up the grim picture painted by Bayless. After a promising stretch earlier in the decade, the Cowboys have missed the postseason for two consecutive years.

The 2024 season ended with a disappointing 7-10 record and a third-place finish in the NFC East, leading to the departure of head coach Mike McCarthy.

The 2025 campaign, under the leadership of Brian Schottenheimer, fared little better; despite an elite offense featuring Dak Prescott and George Pickens, a league-worst defense resulted in a 7-9-1 finish and another January spent on the couch.

The Cowboys' most recent taste of the postseason came in January 2024, a memory that remains a sore spot for the fan base.

After winning the division in 2023, Dallas was stunned at home by the Green Bay Packers in a 48-32 Wild Card loss.

Since that defeat, the Cowboys have struggled to find consistency, plagued by a revolving door of defensive coordinators and an inability to win crucial divisional matchups late in the season.
