The Cleveland Browns continue searching for direction. Although they are introducing a new head coach in Todd Monken, it appears he is not entirely satisfied with the quarterback options currently available to him.

  • Dillon Gabriel
  • Deshaun Watson

Based on the franchise's recent actions, it seems they do not fully trust these options for the future. At least, not for the upcoming 2026 season. That is why they continue exploring alternatives, and they appear to have one clearly in mind: Arch Manning.

The Cleveland Browns met with Texas Longhorns players

Arch Manning will not declare for 2026; that is already a reality. However, the Browns are interested in understanding what is available in the market. Representatives from Cleveland attended the university to evaluate prospects who will be entering the 2026 draft.

It drew attention that Arch Manning was present at the meeting, even though he will not be part of this year's class. Perhaps Cleveland is already looking ahead to 2027. It is said that for this draft, they will not pursue another quarterback, instead waiting until they have the opportunity to secure Manning's services.

To position themselves for Arch, the Browns will need to make serious concessions to move up in the draft and ultimately be in range to select him in 2027.

It is worth recalling that Andrew Berry, Cleveland's general manager, proposed changing the rules so the NFL would allow teams to trade draft picks up to five years in advance instead of three. There was even speculation that he would be willing to part with Myles Garrett.

The Browns could pursue a trade with the New York Jets

This past Tuesday, March 24, 2026, veteran NFL analyst Tony Rizzo discussed the possibility of the Browns swapping five positions with the New York franchise to position themselves for Manning in 2027.

He stated that the Jets would be in a better position than the Browns, as they hold three first-round picks for next year.

They're trying to trade picks five years from now to get him."..."Because they know the Jets are loaded

However, there are many variables that could change. It is possible that in 2026 the Jets undergo a dramatic shift, rising in the standings and moving out of the top draft positions, which would alter this entire scenario.

It will also be important to see whether the signal caller himself has a genuine interest in joining the Browns.

Despite the Browns' problems in building a winner, I think the Haslam family has a good relationship with the Manning family that dates to Peyton's time at University of Tennessee. I don't see Arch Manning and his father, Cooper, pulling an Eli. That depends, of course, on the Browns even being in position to draft Arch, which is impossible to predict.

There is still a long way to go before this situation unfolds, but teams are already looking ahead to the near future to avoid being caught unprepared.
