Authorities allege the Atlanta Falcons rookie repeatedly attempted to smash his Lamborghini into the car of his WNBA star ex-girlfriend, Rickea Jackson.

The 22-year-old linebacker was released on a $20,500 bond on Sunday after being arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, and fleeing police.

The alleged victim, Rickea Jackson, 24, plays for the Los Angeles Sparks and had reportedly ended a three-year relationship with James Pearce Jr shortly before the incident.

According to a Doral Police Department report obtained by ESPN, Jackson had blocked Pearce's phone number following their breakup, only for him to allegedly continue contacting her using a new phone.

Police say the situation escalated dramatically at approximately 09:25 on Saturday morning in Doral, Florida.

Authorities allege that Jackson noticed Pearce driving behind her in his Lamborghini SUV as she turned into her neighborhood.

When she stopped at a red light, police claim he exited his vehicle and attempted to open her driver's side door. Fearing for her safety, Jackson allegedly sped away toward the Doral Police Department headquarters while calling 911.

Police reports state that Pearce then rear-ended her vehicle during the pursuit. As Rickea Jackson attempted to reach the police station, officers allege that Pearce blocked her entrance.

When she reversed in an attempt to escape, the report claims he "intentionally collided head-on with her vehicle."

Police chase and arrest details emerge

A separate report from responding officers describes an escalating and dangerous confrontation. When police arrived on the scene, one officer reportedly drew a firearm and ordered Pearce to the ground.

Instead of complying, police say he re-entered his Lamborghini. Officers allegedly attempted twice to open the vehicle door, but Pearce fled, striking an officer in the knee as he drove away.

A police chase followed through the streets near Northwest 102nd Path and 65th Lane, where authorities say Pearce eventually crashed his vehicle.

He then attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by multiple officers. Disturbing footage later circulated on social media showing thelinebacker pinned to the ground by six police officers.

The police report states: "While officers were attempting to apprehend (Pearce), (he) began to resist arrest by tensing his arms and not allowing officers to apprehend him. After a short struggle, the defendant was taken into custody shortly after."

A judge has since ordered Pearce to have no contact with Jackson as he awaits his next court appearance.

James Pearce Jr's career in serious doubt

The incident has placed the future of Pearce's NFL career in serious doubt, coming just days after he finished third in voting for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The linebacker was selected No. 26 overall in the 2025 draft out of Tennessee, after the Atlanta Falcons traded up to secure him.

During an impressive rookie campaign, Pearce recorded 17 solo tackles and 10.5 sacks, quickly establishing himself as a cornerstone of the Atlanta Falcons defense.

In a statement released Saturday night, a spokesperson for the Atlanta Falcons said: "We are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr, in Miami.

"We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time."
