In a move to save the franchise's interest this NFL offseason, Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane just made two aggressive bets designed to ensure Josh Allen and the Bills stay in the Super Bowl conversation.

Standing for the first time as their head coach at the podium of the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, Beane acted entirely on a future perspective. By confirming a critical $10.4 million salary caprestructuring and issuing a public challenge to his young offensive core, Beane sent a clear message. The Bills are officially going all-in on surrounding Allen with the needed reliable weapons.

The $10M financial pivot

Before the Bills can add new talent, they had to fix the books. Beane confirmed that the team has restructured the contract of right tackle Spencer Brown, opening up $10.4 million in immediate cap space.

This financial breathing room is the oxygen the Bills' front office needs. With the 2026 salary cap projected to land around $301.2 million, they were previously sitting roughly $10 million in the red. This pivot allows the franchise to move from a "survival mode" to a "roster-building mode," something way more desirable, as it provides the flexibility to retain key free agents or pursue a veteran receiver to help Allen.

Securing a safety Net

While the cap space was a business duty, Beane's second decision was related more to football. He confirmed that the Bills will officially pick up the fifth-year option for tight end Dalton Kincaid this spring.

Kincaid is set to earn approximately $8.75 million on that option, a price Beane is more than happy to pay given the tight end's impact on the scoreboard. Regarding this, he said:

"At the right time, we'll knock that out sometime this spring. The production our offense has with him on the field... it was like 7.1 points more per game than the ones he missed

Despite Kincaid leading all Bills pass-catchers with 14.6 yards per catch in 2025, durability remains the elephant to aknowledge in the room. Having missed nine games over the last two seasons with a lingering knee issue, Kincaid's mission for 2026 is simple: Stay on the field.
