Commissioner Roger Goodell has done what he set out to do once the true damage of CTE came to light. He has made football in the NFL a much safer endeavor. Concussions are way down since the renewed emphasis on player safety, but it has come at a cost.

Many fans, and even some players like Joe Flacco, believe the NFL has gone too far in eliminating big hits from the game. What was once considered a gladiator sport has been toned down in a major way. That has some fans looking for alternatives to get their adrenaline fix.

Run Nation Championship is basically a gladiator sport

They have absolutely found it in "Run Nation". The Run Nation Championship is a new combat, collision, violent - whatever you want to call it - sport that has originated in Australia. Taking cues from rugby and the NFL, it features very large men running into each other at full speed in what is essentially an Oklahoma Drill.

The difference is that the "players" don't wear pads or any protective head gear. The collisions are absolutely brutal, and dangerous.

So dangerous that even football and rugby fans don't understand the need for this type of sport. It's simply unnecessary and can only do more harm than good. Goodell would have a heart attack if he saw what these people are up to.
