- NCAA. Duke's Boozer family finally gets good news as hurt from shocking NCAA Tournament exit still lingers
The Arizona Wildcats are in the midst of their best college basketball season since 2001, when they reached the National Championship game but fell to Duke. This time around, Arizona wants to lift the trophy for just the second time in school history.
Head coach Tommy Lloyd has tons of talent at his disposal, and the edge in talent over other teams has been apparent all season. Yet despite having so many good players, one who hasn't played a second in the NCAA Tournament continues to dominate headlines for media outlets: Bryce James.
It comes with the territory of being LeBron James' son, but there was an odd situation this week with Bryce. The freshman was barred from being interviewed by reporters, and even had a personal "enforcer" next to him to make sure no one got near him.
Bryce James isn't playing in NCAA Tournament due to being redshirted by Arizona
It was a peculiar move, but as Yahoo Sports' Dan Wolken pointed out, no player was actually obligated to do any interviews.
Regardless, the situation has put a bit of a damper on Arizona's Final Four run. James hasn't taken part in it because he and the school decided it was best for him to use a redshirt season this year. There simply wasn't any way he was going to get playing time on such a deep and talented team.
Still just 18 years old as his freshman year winds down, Bryce will get more opportunity to make an impact next season. For now, he will root from the sidelines as his teammates go for glory.
