Jordon Hudson, girlfriend of former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, wore a controversial t-shirt referencing a sensitive chapter in Patriots history and that triggered an angry reaction from Patriots superfan Dave Portnoy.

Hudson attended the Duke-North Carolina game on February 7 wearing a shirt that featured the logo of Orchids of Asia Day Spa, the Florida business visited by Patriots owner Robert Kraft in 2019.

Kraft was charged at the time with solicitation of prostitution in connection with the spa, which authorities reported was tied to an international human trafficking ring.

The charges were later dropped, and Kraft maintained his innocence throughout the controversy.

Hudson's choice of attire sparked immediate backlash. Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, publicly criticized her appearance the day after the Patriots' Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

"Stock Down Jordon Hudson, wore an insult shirt making fun of Bob Kraft the day before the Super Bowl. There's a time and a place for everything. There wasn't a time for that..." Portnoy posted in a video on X.com.

Portnoy's comments came as Patriots fans were already reeling from several disappointments, including the team's Super Bowl loss and recent Hall of Fame snubs for Kraft and Belichick.

The longtime Patriots collaborators helped New England win six Super Bowls over nearly two decades, cementing a dynasty that reshaped the NFL.

Patriots legacy and recent controversies

While Belichick and Kraft built one of the most successful coaching-owner partnerships in NFL history, their first year of Hall of Fame eligibility did not go as fans hoped.

Both failed to receive enough votes for induction, drawing criticism from analysts and supporters alike.

Questions about the selection process and voting criteria quickly circulated online, with many calling the omission a glaring oversight given the pair's contributions to professional football.

Hudson, a former cheerleader, has been in the public eye partly due to her relationship with Belichick.

Her choice of t-shirt was widely interpreted as referencing the 2019 scandal in a tongue-in-cheek manner, though reactions were divided. Some observers saw it as an ill-timed joke, while others defended her freedom to wear what she wanted.

A tense time for Patriots fans

The timing of the controversy added fuel to the emotional weeks for Patriots fans.

Coming on the heels of a Super Bowl loss against the Seahawks, the outfit became a talking point in sports media, highlighting the challenges of navigating personal expression in the shadow of high-profile figures like Belichick and Kraft.

Despite the criticism, Hudson attended the game as a spectator and did not comment publicly on Portnoy's remarks.

The attention, however, underscores how closely the Patriots' legacy and its figures remain scrutinized, even years after key events.
