- College Football. Report claims Jordan Hudson caused Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame snub: not even Tom Brady's plea helped
Tuesday morning, Amanda Belichick's Instagram feed looked very different from the football world she's often associated with.
Instead, she reshared a Team USA Olympic gear haul video, adding her own commentary about what she wants to see right now: lacrosse, not football.
The timing was notable. Her father, Bill Belichick, had just become one of the most talked-about Hall of Fame snubs in recent NFL memory.
"The only social media I want to consume right now [is] olympians and their gear hauls," she wrote, "lacrosse and the Olympics starting this week is sports overload in the best way."
Bill Belichick failed to secure the 40 votes needed for first-ballot induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, according to ESPN and USA Today.
The Patriots coach compiled 333 career wins, eight Super Bowl appearances, and six rings as a head coach-two more as a defensive coordinator with the Giants. Still, it wasn't enough to earn a first-ballot spot.
Amanda, the Holy Cross women's lacrosse head coach, has charted her own course far from the NFL spotlight. A Wesleyan graduate with a history degree, she initially didn't plan to go into coaching.
"If you asked if I was going into coaching, I would have said, 'No way,'" she told the Boston Herald. "I wasn't running away from it, but I wasn't running toward it either."
After stops at UMass, Ohio State, and Choate, she landed at Holy Cross, where she's focused on building a program that emphasizes confidence and growth over national headlines.
Her Instagram activity this week underscored that focus, even as the NFL world debated her father's legacy.
Her father's shocking snub
Bill's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, added fuel to the discussion on social media, posting a screenshot of a canceled Hall of Fame merchandise order with a caption dripping in sarcasm.
"Hey @profootballhof, what were the 'unforeseen circumstances'?" followed by a laughing emoji.
Sources from ESPN reported that Bill himself was "puzzled" and "disappointed" by the vote, while a veteran Hall of Fame voter suggested lingering controversies, including Deflategate, influenced the outcome.
"The only explanation was the cheating stuff," the voter said. "It really bothered some of the guys."
Carving her own path
Amanda's approach to coaching stands in stark contrast to her father's obsession with X's and O's.
"My job is to give the players the opportunity to build confidence and feel good about themselves," she told the Herald.
During her playing days at Wesleyan, she helped the team climb from 49th nationally to No. 17, and now she's aiming to do something similar with Holy Cross lacrosse.
While NFL drama dominates headlines, Amanda's priorities remain clear: lacrosse and the Olympics. Her focus on a different sport, one that emphasizes teamwork and personal growth over national scrutiny, tells the story of the career she chose on her own terms.
Looking ahead, Amanda will continue to develop Holy Cross into a competitive program in collegiate women's lacrosse, while Bill Belichick faces the next chapter of his Hall of Fame journey.
Her Instagram activity suggests she won't let football politics distract her from her mission-a reminder that, for Amanda Belichick, success isn't measured in votes or rings, but in the growth of the athletes she coaches.
