Bill Belichick just wants to focus on UNC football.

There was a long time in Bill Belichick's NFL coaching career, practically all of it, where the only thing that mattered was football. At least in his mind, that's how it was, and he transmitted that mentality to his players. It led to immense success with the New England Patriots. Now the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, Belichick was expected to bring that no-drama, football-only mantra to UNC. But things have changed.

Belichick's relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson has drawn national headlines, more so recently following a disastrous interview with CBS where Hudson appeared to be controlling him. Hudson's presence at UNC's football facilities has also led to reports that she's been banned from the premises. Belichick would love to just focus on football, but that isn't possible in today's climate. On Tuesday, during the ACC Spring Meetings, Belichick was able to clear the air a bit, but he can't escape Hudson as a topic of conversation.

Bill Belichick: "Jordon Hudson doesn't have anything to do with UNC football"

Belichick sat down with SportsCenter anchor Christine Williamson on Tuesday during the ACC event. Naturally, Belichick was asked about Hudson and how their relationship could be a distraction for the football team and for himself as the head coach. His answer was clear and concise.

Arch Manning Leads Odds to Go #1 Overall in 2026 NFL Draft

I mean, that's really off to the side. It's a personal relationship, and she doesn't have anything to do with UNC football. I'm excited to be back in the coaches' meetings, getting ready for June and then August when we get to training camp.

Belichick was also asked how his players might react differently to him due to what they see on social media about his relationship with Hudson. The head coach avoided the question and focused on the task at hand.

I talk to the players when we meet with them, when they come in to visit and so forth, sure. [Those conversations have gone] great. Again, we want to make the players the best that they can be, provide them the best opportunity on and off the field. That's what we're about at UNC.

Belichick clearly pays no mind to the external reports regarding his relationship, as well as his grasp on the head coaching job at UNC. In his mind, he isn't going anywhere and is full-steam ahead for the 2025 college football season.
