The hornet's nest of world boxing has been stirred once again, and this time the man at the center of the storm is Rolando "Rolly" Romero. The current WBA welterweight champion did not hold back after learning that negotiations for a second chapter between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are gaining traction. For Romero, this is nothing more than a forward escape by a Garcia he bluntly labels as "the biggest coward in boxing."

Rolly's fury stems from an alleged contractual betrayal. According to the Las Vegas fighter, Garcia ignored a prior agreement to face him again. "He dodged our rematch clause when we already had the entire deal done - the purses, the venue, and the percentages were finalized. He got scared and decided to fight a completely weight-drained Barrios instead. He only wants to fight bums with pillow hands," Romero fired off on his X account.

The wildest challenge: "Let him use whatever drug he wants"

Ryan Garcia's backstage celebration takes an unexpected turn after title win

Romero, known for his sharp tongue and confrontational style, raised the stakes by addressing the controversial doping topic that has recently surrounded Garcia's career. In a display of confidence - or madness - Rolly claimed he does not care what substances his rival uses as long as they step into the ring.

"I would fight Ryan even if he were using steroids and I'd still beat him up," said the WBA champion. "He doesn't even have to enroll in VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association); I'll enroll myself and let him take whatever drugs he wants. If he wants to take Ostarine, testosterone, or cocaine, that's fine with me. Let him have fun."

A scenario filled with uncertainty

Despite his victory over Garcia last May - when he captured the vacant WBA welterweight title following a spectacular knockout - Romero feels pushed out of the media spotlight.

While Garcia and Haney once again dominate headlines with their potential rematch, Rolly finds himself in limbo: he has rejected fights against mandatory challengers such as Shakhram Giyasov and is desperately pursuing a payday against names like Manny Pacquiao or Conor Benn.
