Deion Sanders has always been known for his gratitude. The Colorado head coach consistently shows appreciation to those who have influenced his journey, as he recently demonstrated by inviting one of HBCU's top coaches to the Buffaloes' spring practice.

After a brief stint coaching high school football and serving as offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian, Sanders began his head coaching career at Jackson State, one of the most storied programs among HBCUs.

Although he spent only two seasons with the Tigers before signing with Colorado, Sanders remains deeply appreciative of Jackson State and HBCUs in general, never missing an opportunity to express it.

This time, Coach Prime extended an invitation to Prairie View A&M head coach Tremaine Jackson to attend Colorado's spring training-a gesture that did not go unnoticed.

Sanders' invitation to Jackson

In a statement released by Prairie View A&M Athletics, Sanders praised the HBCU community: "This is family to me. HBCUs have poured so much into this game and into me personally," said Coach Prime.

Whenever we can open the doors, share knowledge, and build relationships, that is something I am always going to do.

Jackson, in turn, expressed admiration for Sanders' work in Colorado:

We wanted to come out and see how Coach does it. He is one of the top coaches in the country and has accomplished what we are working to build at Prairie View A&M.

He also reflected on Sanders' legacy: "He did it before at Jackson State, and we wanted the opportunity to visit, learn, and share ideas that can help both of our programs grow."

Jackson and Sanders come full circle

During the visit, Jackson and several members of his coaching staff toured the Buffaloes' facilities and observed the team's practice.

For the Panthers' head coach, the visit marked the closing of a cycle that began last year when he missed the chance to face Colorado in a spring training game.

A year later, Jackson returned not only as a successful HBCU coach but also as a Division II NCAA finalist. Coach Prime has always had a keen eye for choosing his friends-and his rivals.
